Man Beaten in Angel Stadium Parking Lot in Critical Condition

An unidentified man was in critical condition on Sunday after he was attacked and severely beaten by three men in the parking lot of Angel Stadium.

The incident occurred after Friday night’s playoff game between the Angels of Anaheim and the Kansas City Royals. KTLA 5 reported that the man was walking with a relative at 10:30 p.m. when he was assaulted. A person who was nearby observed that the victim was on the ground and summoned the Anaheim police officer who was working in the parking lot.

Lt. Bob Dunn with the Anaheim Police Department said that the victim was hurried to a local hospital, where as of Sunday he was still in critical condition. Dunn added that the man did not provoke the assailants and that there was no known motive for the attack.

The assault is eerily reminiscent of a beating that took place on opening day at Dodger Stadium in 2011 when Bryan Stow, a Giants fan, had his skull fractured in an attack by two Dodgers fans.

CBS Los Angeles reported that Stow nearly died from the attack and has permanent brain damage. In July, Stow was awarded $14 million in damages and an additional $4 million in pain and suffering from the Los Angeles Dodgers.
