Chula Vista High School girls turned frenemies now find themselves in the middle of potential criminal charges, including child pornography and statutory rape, after one of the girls Instagramed a photo of the other changing clothes in a school bathroom stall.
Multiple girls are reported to have later admitted to police that the teen girls took nude photos and video of themselves.
Sandra Flores, parent of the 16-year-old subject of the partially nude photo, told 10 News that her daughter doesn’t like changing in front of others in the locker room, so she had changed out of gym clothes in a private bathroom stall. According to the mother, the teen said the photo was taken from over the wall of the stall and before the falling out between the girl and a then-friend and was sent through Instagram after the friendship turned sour.
Three police officers were present Thursday morning at the school, reported Team 10. Chula Vista police told the news outlet that they are taking the potential child pornography and statutory rape case very seriously.
When pressed about the incident, multiple girls involved reportedly revealed to police that they had also taken both nude pictures and video of themselves.
Police are considering what charges to present to the district attorney, reported Team 10. The high school may also discipline those involved if their own investigation warrants it.
