Father and Son in Critical Condition After Fight Involving 30 People Organized on Facebook

A 41-year-old man and his 20-year-old son were stabbed and beaten and ended up in the hospital after a fight involving up to 30 people that police say was organized ahead of time on Facebook.

Police in Sydney, Australia arrested at least three people they say participated in the fight held near the suburban Sydney Rouse Hill shopping mall.

Two men, ages 20 and 18, as well as a 15-year-old were detained. The 20-year-old, Glenn Shillingsworth, was denied bail. Police claimed he was an organizer of the fight, using Facebook to gather participants.

“It’s a strong prosecution case along with a degree of planning,” said magistrate Geoffrrey Hiatt.

Police found a knife, scissors, and baseball bat at the crime scene, and several of the participants had stab wounds.

The 41-year old man and his 20-year-old son were listed in critical condition with multiple stab wounds.
