Sept. 15 (UPI) — Netflix is teasing the new film Animals.
The streaming service shared a trailer for the movie Tuesday featuring Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington.
Animals is a thriller co-written and directed by Affleck, who plays Mark Kimball, a politician whose son Denny (Christopher Woodley) is kidnapped during his run for mayor of Los Angeles.
Gillian Anderson also stars as Dayle, a mysterious fixer who advises Mark and his wife Abigail (Washington) during the crisis.
“Who are we really? Who are we when our masks come off?” Affleck told Netflix’s Tudum. “Ultimately, this is a story about whether people have a real moral compass or seek to do what’s in their best interests.”
“The movie is really about marriage — what it means to attach yourself to someone, the bargains and exchanges,” he added.
Other cast members include Steven Yeun, Adriana Paz and Luis Gerardo Mendez.
Animals releases Oct. 9 in select theaters and on Netflix.
