Sept. 8 (UPI) — Netflix has announced it is working on a new Lonesome Dove western series.
Zoe Kazan and Jeb Stuart will serve as co-show-runners for the adaptation of Larry McMurtry’s beloved 1985 novel, but no casting has been announced yet.
“After our singular experience on East of Eden, we are thrilled to be teaming with Netflix again, along with Teton Ridge Entertainment, to bring Larry McMurtry’s western classic to life,” Kazan and Stuart said in a joint statement Tuesday.
“We come to this material with love and respect, and can’t wait to hit the trail with Gus and Call and the rest of these beloved characters. Yee-haw.”
The book was previously the basis of a 1989 TV miniseries starring Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, Danny Glover and Diane Lane.
