Oct. 19 (UPI) — A South Carolina man found making a quick stop at the store after work paid off when he scored $500,000 from a scratch-off lottery ticket.

The Rock Hill man told South Carolina Education Lottery officials he stopped at the Scotts Food Store on Heckle Boulevard in Rock Hill after leaving work and a Triple Red 777 scratch-off ticket caught his eye.

He decided to buy the $10 ticket and ended up winning the game’s first $500,000 top prize.

“It was unbelievable,” the winner said. “Maybe I’ll believe it when it hits my bank account.”

The winner said he does not have any immediate plans for his windfall.
