‘Scary Movie’ to start streaming Sept. 3 on Paramount+

Aug. 19 (UPI) — Scary Movie is coming to Paramount+ ahead of Halloween.

Paramount+ announced Wednesday that the film will start streaming on the service Sept. 3.

Scary Movie is the sixth entry in the Scary Movie horror parody film series created by the Wayans family, who had not been involved with the franchise since Scary Movie 2 (2001).

Directed by Michael Tiddes, the sequel features Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris and Regina Hall, who starred in the original 2000 film, also titled Scary Movie. Marlon Wayans referred to the movie as a “rebooquel,” or a reboot sequel, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly in March.

Other cast members include Kenan Thompson, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Kim Wayans, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Damon Wayans Jr., and Heidi Gardner.

The new Scary Movie opened in theaters June 5, making it a 91-day period between its theatrical and streaming release. The film grossed over $230 million at the worldwide box office, with the franchise crossing the $1 billion mark in June.
