Oct. 26 (UPI) — Prime Video is gearing up for the release of Terrell & T.O., a new documentary about retired NFL star Terrell Owens.
The streaming service shared a trailer and Nov. 5 premiere date for the film on Monday.
Terrell & T.O. explores the life and career of Owens, now 52, a wide receiver who played for the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and other teams during his football career.
Owens, whose “undeniable talent and outspoken personality made him one of the most celebrated, scrutinized, and misunderstood figures in NFL history,” started as a third round selection in the 1996 NFL Draft.
His athleticism and personal expression contributed to his meteoric rise as one of the most “accomplished” and “polarizing” figures in the sport, who “fundamentally altered the wide receiver position and football culture itself,” according to a press release.
The documentary features interviews with Owens, his family members and close friends, along with former 49ers Steve Young, Jerry Rice and Jeff Garcia, former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and other NFL figures.
In the trailer, Owens asserts, “The person that people think that I am is nowhere even close to who I am.”
Owens was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2018 and into the San Francisco 49ers Hall of Fame the next year.
