MSNBC: Paris-Like Attack Would Be Worse In US For Lack Of Gun Control

On January 9, MSNBC’s Eugene Robinson suggested a Paris-like terror attack in the US would produce “a lot more carnage” because of our lack of gun control and the availability of firearms.

He did not mention that the terrorists in France were not hindered in the slightest by the the strict gun control laws in that country–they were armed to the teeth. Nor did he mention that when they burst into the Charlie Hebdo offices gun control provided them a scenario where their victims were sitting ducks.

According to the Media Research Center, here is how Robinson responded when Andrea Mitchell asked for his take on the Paris attack:

Just to keep to keep it in perspective, I don’t think we should imagine that the conditions and the threat are exactly the same in the United States as they are in France, they are different. In fact, one thing that’s different here is weapons are universally available so, I mean, it is actually a very good thing that the tensions are not exactly the same because we would expect to have a lot more of that sort of carnage here.

Again–the terrorists were armed, their victims were not. Gun control does not make the vulnerable less vulnerable, but more so.
