Missouri’s Republican Gov. Eric Greitens slammed the media for trying to “intimidate conservatives” and for publishing “fake news” in a Facebook post on Thursday.

Saying that the media in Missouri has “sunk to new lows,” the gov. slammed “liberal newspapers” in the state for pushing left-wing opinion as fact.

“They lob personal insults. They attack the character of people they don’t know and have never met. They hide behind anonymity. They publish things that are blatantly false,” Greitens said in his November 16 post.

The gov. criticized the Kansas City Star for publishing as a fact their opinion that Greitens does not care about schoolchildren, veterans, the elderly, the disabled, college students and other Missourians.

“Why do they do this?” Greitens continued, saying:

They do it to intimidate conservatives. One of the things I hear from people is that they are afraid to do anything in public life because of how nasty the liberal media is.

Despite the attempt to intimidate, though, Greitens says, “We’re not scared”:

When the liberal media engages in insults, it’s because they’ve lost the argument. When they call people names and attack their character, it’s because their own ideas have failed. When they publish fake news, it’s because their solutions haven’t gotten real results.

The gov. goes on to urge Missourians to ignore the “fake news” and step up to offer themselves for public service. He also praises those who have already stepped forward saying that it shows they really care about people.

Greitens next celebrated the fact that conservatives now have alternate ways to communicate and that they can make an end run around the liberal media establishment.

“That’s why the liberal media has lost its marbles,” he said of these new ways to communicate. “They don’t like that we can talk to you directly. They don’t like that we’re not beholden to them and their agenda. The nastier they get, the more we know we’re doing something right.”

“If you want to fight the liberal media, then do something,” Greitens concluded. “Sign up for a cause. Take action. Get involved. There’s a lot of work to be done, and the liberal media sure isn’t going to do it.”

“It’s up to us. And thank God it is,” he said.
