Adrian Peterson on Cusp of Court Date Lashes Out in Court of Public Opinion

Adrian Peterson appears in court today. Yesterday, he made his case in the court of public opinion.

The Minnesota Vikings running back, who promises to plead not guilty when he goes before a judge on Wednesday on a child-abuse charge, lashed out at a Minneapolis Star-Tribune report that alleged financial malfeasance at his nonprofit and detailed allegations about the 2012 NFL MVP partaking in a booze-fueled orgy.

Peterson remains sidelined with pay until he settles the child-abuse charge against him. In what may be a tactic to get him to enter a guilty plea, the district attorney’s office has said that a trial might not start for as long as another year. Peterson, who turns 30 before next season, looks less and less likely to challenge for Emmitt Smith’s career rushing title as his ground yardage totals remain grounded at 10,190.
