Block 'M' on Michigan Campus Painted Green in MSU Rivalry Vandalism

The famed block “M” fixed into the main pedestrian walkway at the University of Michigan’s Central Campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan, was painted green on Wednesday morning in vandalism born of the school’s football rivalry with the Michigan State University Spartans.

The great “M” was fixed into the walkway to celebrate the U of M class of 1953 and has been a long-time icon of the campus. But early Wednesday morning supporters of Michigan State University painted the large “M” in MSU Spartan green and added an “S” and a “U” spraypainted in white next to it.

This is all part of the frequent graffiti that MSU and U of M fans visit upon each other with their football rivalry during the week leading up to the big game.

The eighth-ranked MSU Spartans are favored to beat the Wolverines for Saturday’s game to be played at the MSU campus in East Lansing.
