Archbishop Gabriele Caccia told the United Nations General Assembly on behalf of the Vatican Wednesday that nuclear deterrence even without the intent to employ nuclear arms is “immoral.”

Pope Francis declared Tuesday that a world without nuclear weapons is “both necessary and possible” whereas such weapons are only “a costly and dangerous liability.”

The White House warned Tuesday that Iran is only weeks from a nuclear “breakout” and the Trump administration is to blame.

“I’m here today to continue the proud tradition of bold American diplomacy,” Trump said after meeting with Putin for two hours in Helsinki, Finland.
