The chairman of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs told Breitbart News Donald J. Trump understands the problems facing today’s veterans, and he is the only one who can fix the scandal-ridden Department of Veterans Affairs.
Although presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump received two standing ovations from more than 200 House Republicans on Capitol Hill on Thursday morning, his second meeting of the day with Senate Republicans was more combative, according to The Washington Post.
Sources report Donald Trump received two standing ovations during the meeting, where he reportedly spoke about tax reform, Obamacare, the Supreme Court, the Second Amendment and dishonesty in the media.
“There is so much we don’t know,” Dr. Jeanne Sheffield, a Johns Hopkins Hospital expert in pregnancy and infectious disease, stressed during a Capitol Hill briefing about Zika. “We don’t know the true incidence among pregnant women.”
Through its alliance with the Democrat Party and the pro-abortion mainstream media, Planned Parenthood has promoted the notion that its biggest money-makers — abortion and birth control — are the means to combat the mosquito-borne Zika virus, which is being linked to cases of a rare birth defect called microcephaly, primarily in Brazil.
In what some conservative leaders are calling a “show vote,” the Senate will hold a vote Monday afternoon to defund Planned Parenthood in the wake of undercover videos showing the organization’s officials engaged in the sale of body parts of aborted babies.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has assigned three Republican senators to develop a plan to defund Planned Parenthood.
The House’s version of the redo, known as the Student Success Act (H.R. 5), was pulled from the House floor by GOP leadership in late February after it was determined the measure lacked sufficient support. Grassroots parents’ groups – many that have been fighting against the Common Core standards in their states – voiced their concerns that the Student Success Act still required excessive federal intrusion into the right of states to set their own education policies.
The Republican-dominated Senate has allowed Loretta Lynch to be confirmed as the next U.S. Attorney General, 56-43. Roll Call now says the GOP will suffer with “scars from the long, tortured confirmation process of the first African-American woman nominated to fill the post.”
The Left appears increasingly flustered over events in the Middle East, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud party’s declaration of victory in Tuesday’s elections isn’t likely to help matters much.
