Birthright Honors American ‘Lone Solider’ Who Died in Gaza War

Southern California native and “lone soldier” Max Steinberg lost his life fighting for Israel against Hamas during Operation Protective Edge last summer. In honor of his bravery, the Birthright organization, which provides tours of Israel for young Jewish Americans, has dedicated a memorial site to Steinberg in northern Israel.

Abdulazeez was born in Kuwait, and graduated from Red Bank High School in the Chattanooga area. In 2012 he graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a degree in electrical engineering. According to an online resume, he worked as an intern at the Tennessee Valley Authority, Mohawk Industries, and Global Trade Express before landing his job at Superior Essex.
