Bill Maher Booed on Letterman for Zimmerman Jokes
Bill Maher found a tough audience at the Tuesday, July 16 broadcast of Late Show with David Letterman, when he was met with boos for his delivery of some off color George Zimmerman jokes.
The initial topic of discussion between the Real Time host and David Letterman was Major League Baseball's All-Star game. When Letterman pointed out that Maher was a part owner of the Mets, Maher counted saying he was only a "minority owner."
"Better than being a minority in Florida," Maher quipped.
The crowd showed it was not amused at this joke as a smattering of boos rang out, which seemed to startle the HBO comedian. "Why are they booing?" he remarked.
Later in the show, Maher again tried to inject his brand of humor into the Zimemrman case, with no better results.
"You know they want to give George Zimmerman a gun now," Maher said. "The Florida state law is that he can get his gun back. I say, if he gets a gun, Casey Anthony gets a baby."
At this the boos rang out yet again.
Letterman prudently changed the subject after the second booing.
