Surrogate Lies About Elizabeth Warren's Phony Cherokee Ancestry on MSNBC

Yesterday on MSNBC’s The Ed Show, Elizabeth Warren’s surrogate, Democratic Massachusetts State Senator Katherine Clark, told a bald-faced lie about Ms. Warren’s heritage (emphasis added):

Elizabeth Warren has been very clear: This is what she was taught from the time she was a small girl that she has Native American relatives and it’s been demonstrated by some of the research that’s been done that, in fact, there are records that support that claim.

As has been well documented here at Breitbart News, there are no records to support Ms. Warren’s claim of Cherokee ancestry, a fact known to Senator Clark.  The Warren campaign has offered only two pieces of phony evidence:

  1. A discredited 2006 family newsletter written and published in England
  2. The 1984 Pow Wow Chow cookbook, edited by Ms. Warren’s cousin, to which Ms. Warren contributed three plagiarized recipes. (The campaign offered the contributions of Ms. Warren’s cousin to the Five Civilized Tribes Museum in Muskogee, Oklahoma as evidence of Ms. Warren’s Native American ancestry. The cookbook was her cousin’s most significant contribution to the museum.)

Mr. Schultz failed to challenge Senator Clark’s lie, and did not ask her whether she considered either the discredited 2006 family newsletter or the 1984 Pow Wow Chow cookbook to be a “record.”

You can read more about the story at the Washington Free Beacon, and watch the video here:

Senator Clark’s audacious lie is but the most recent step in the Warren campaign’s strategy to double down on her false claims of Native American ancestry, which the candidate herself did last Monday on CNN.

While Senator Clark was lying on her behalf to MSNBC, Ms. Warren was thought to be partying in Hollywood with actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, who have organized a fundraiser for her. This past week, the Warren campaign spent millions of dollars on television advertising in Massachusetts, a tactic designed to limit the damage arising from press reports documenting her false claims of Native American ancestry.
