McCain On Gohmert: 'No Intelligence'

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) violated Reagan’s 11th Commandment Wednesday night by accusing fellow Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert of having “no intelligence.”

The charge was in response to something Gohmert said this past weekend about McCain. To be fair, Gohmert was hardly following Reagan’s rule when he said this of McCain:

Some senator from Arizona, a guy that liked Qaddafi before he wanted to bomb him, a guy that liked Mubarak before he wanted him out, a guy that’s been to Syria and supported al-Qaeda and rebels, but he was saying today the shutdown is a fool’s errand.

Of course Brian Williams saw an opportunity to further divide Republicans by asking McCain about Gohmert’s statement during a NBC Nightly News segment about the government shutdown. McCain obliged Williams:

“Sometimes those-comments like that are made out of malice, but if someone has no intelligence I don’t view it as being a malicious statement.”

So, if you’re keeping score at home, Gohmert says McCain’s foreign policy is feckless and resulted in providing support for Syrian rebels aligned with al Qaeda, and in response, instead of defending the Syrian rebels and debunking the assertion that they are affiliated with al Qaeda, McCain called Gohmert a dummy.
