Obama: 'The First Lady Doesn't Get Paid and She Works Pretty Hard'

Tuesday while President Barack Obama was answering questions at TechShop Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, he used first lady Michelle Obama as an example of the importance of equal pay for families. The president explained he wants Michelle to get fairly paid for her efforts.

In 2012 it was widely reported taxpayers had already spent approximately $1.4 billion dollars on everything from staffing, clothing, housing, flying and entertaining Obama’s family. The Office of the First Lady comes with a staff that includes the White House Social Secretary, a Chief of Staff, Hair and Makeup Professionals, Executive Chef, Press Secretary, Chief Floral Designer and more. Michelle Obama has over 20 staff members which is a record for first ladies.
