Border Crisis Spreads to Other Sectors, Says Border Patrol Union

LUBBOCK, Texas— The National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) revealed to Breitbart Texas that the massive human tsunami of illegal immigrants flooding over the U.S. border from Mexico has now begun to spread outside of South Texas.

NBPC Local 1929 Vice President Stu Harris told Breitbart Texas, “Approximately 40 illegal aliens from Central America have turned themselves in to our Border Patrol agents in the El Paso sector in recent days. The method of the illegal crossing shows that it is the South Texas border crisis expanding to the furthest point of Texas from the Rio Grande Valley sector (RGV).” He explained, “Illegal aliens usually try to avoid Border Patrol agents and hide or even flee from us. The fact that these numbers are crossing to simply turn themselves in to U.S. custody shows this is tied into the South Texas border crisis.”

Vice President Harris explained that these numbers were mostly from Honduras and El Salvador, as opposed to individuals from Mexico. “Most of these illegal aliens have been minors,” he said. “We are seeing a lot of family groups with one adult and multiple children.”

Breitbart Texas learned from Vice President Harris that the El Paso sector has acted as a major pressure relief valve for the surge of illegal aliens in the Rio Grande Valley sector. “We are now dealing with the beginning trickles of this crisis in our own sector, as well as numbers from the RGV. Our men and women are having to babysit and we are not on the border. America is less safe because of this and so are our agents.”

The process, according to Vice President Harris, is discouraging to the Border Patrol agents. “We catch them, process them, turn them over to ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement], and then they simply let them go into the United States,” he said.
