NBC's New Year's Eve Team Mocks Pearl Harbor Vets with Old Age Joke

NBC ushered in 2014 with a joke aimed at Pearl Harbor veterans supposedly too old to chew solid food.

The channel’s New Year’s Eve coverage, anchored by Carson Daly, featured a panel of stars including actors Anthony Anderson, Jane Lynch and Natasha Leggero.

The crew brought up a recent PR blunder by SpaghettiOs which tried to salute Pearl Harbor veterans while promoting its brand and goofy mascot. Daly recapped the situation and turned to his panel for comments.

CARSON DALY: It wasn’t good. But you were offended for another reason.

JANE LYNCH: I’m offended because they were referring to SpaghettiOs as pasta.

NATASHA LEGGERO: I mean, it sucks that the only survivors of Pearl Harbor are being mocked by the only food they can still chew. It’s just sad.

Daly looked pained by the joke, but Anderson doubled over with laughter.
