Arizona DPS Has ‘Person of Interest’ in Custody for Phoenix Freeway Shootings

Arizona Department of Public Safety officials say they have a “person of interest” in custody for the Phoenix freeway shootings that have been plaguing the city since August 29.

On September 11 Breitbart News reported there had been 11 shootings in 13 days on Arizona freeways.

According to ABC 15, the apprehension of the “person of interest” occurred when “marked and unmarked Arizona Department of Public Safety vehicles converged on a silver Tahoe in a complex parking lot near 107th Avenue and Indian School Road” around 10:30 a.m. Friday morning. Authorities initially took two persons into custody–one male and one female–but released the female and made clear she “is not related to the investigation.”

AZ Central reports that DPS spokesman Bart Graves indicated the person who remains in custody “is a young man, possibly in his early 20s.” Graves would not say whether a call from a citizen directed police to this specific person, but he made clear that the phone calls and tips are what brought police this far in the investigation.

Graves said police “are working 24 hours a day” to solve this crime and find the person or persons behind the shootings. He asked that the public continue to provide tips when they have them.
