Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump is slamming primary opponent Ted Cruz as a reason that Obamacare remains the law of the land.

“The one who pushed [Chief Justice John Roberts] harder than anybody was Cruz, Sen. Cruz. So Sen. Cruz gave us Obamacare in the true sense,” Trump told Pat Robertson and an overflow audience at Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

“He wrote actually papers on why [Roberts] should be the one chosen. Signed by Ted Cruz,” Trump added.

Roberts was a deciding vote to keep Obamacare in place in 2012 and voted to preserve the controversial law again in 2015. While Cruz was not a senator when then-President Bush nominated Roberts, Cruz did publicly support the nomination.

Cruz later called his support for Roberts “a mistake”

“No matter what he does he has been a disastrous judge because Obamacare is killing everybody,” Trump added Wednesday.

Speaking about the kind of Supreme Court Justice he would select, Trump said he would appoint a pro-life justice who is “very conservative, very, very smart,” and in the model of the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

Trump also went on to praise Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.

“So in that realm is what we’re talking about, for me,” Trump added.
