Robert Gates’ Disturbing Dish on Dingy

Powerline’s Scott Johnson thinks this little vignette, shared by former Defense Secretary Robert Gates in his new book, Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War, “explains much,” but I’ll report and let you decide.

Gates says that Harry Reid once urged him to have the Defense Department “invest in research on irritable bowel syndrome.”

“With two ongoing wars and all our budget and other issues,” Gates writes, “I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.”

Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist Sherman Frederick assured Gates that “Nevadans feel the same way.”

I daresay most Americans do, too.
