Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is expected to announce he is running for President in 2016 in a speech scheduled Monday morning at Liberty University, but a tweet he posted Sunday evening indicated the news could come within a few hours.

As Breitbart Texas reported, senior advisers close to Cruz have confirmed that the Senator will officially launch his Presidential campaign on Monday, and a number of Cruz’s long time supporters told Breitbart Texas that they had received phone calls letting them know the news.

Cruz himself has declined to directly confirm the news all weekend, but did post a tweet on his personal Twitter account with a strong hint that the announcement could come as early as midnight Sunday:

The Senator made a similar comment on an appearance on the Breitbart News Sunday program on SiriusXM Patriot Sunday evening at the very end of his interview:

“We’re going to be at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow at Liberty University and I’ll tell you, for those of you following us online on Twitter, at @tedcruz, stay tuned at midnight tonight for some significant news,” said Cruz. “Let me encourage you to stay tuned and I look forward to talking to you further. Take care.”

Breitbart Texas will continue to follow this story, and will report on Cruz’s speech Monday morning.
