A Mexican national was sentenced for producing child pornography in Dallas, Texas, after he filmed himself having sex with an underage girl.
Gerson Gonzalez Tovar, a 25, pleaded guilty to one count of child porn production, receiving 204 months in federal prison and 10 years of supervised release thereafter, according to the Department of Justice.
Tovar, court documents reveal, used Facebook to contact a 15-year-old girl in 2014, knowing that the girl was underage. While the girl was out of school for the summer, the Mexican national drove to her home, convinced her to enter his car and then had sex with her.
In April of 2015, Tovar drove to the girl’s school, picked her up and again had sex with her, except this time he filmed the illegal encounter on his phone. Afterwards, he asked the girl to send him sexually explicit content of herself.
The Mexican national also asked the girl how many times she would have sex with him if he arrived at her school again. Court records revealed Tovar’s relationship with another girl, this time a 13-year-old. Tovar met with the 13-year-old multiple times trying to have sex with her.
The case of producing child porn was investigated as part of the Project Safe Childhood program, which is a nationwide effort by the DOJ to combat the epidemic of child sex crimes and abuse.
