Krauthammer: Rand Will Have to Walk Back His Foreign Policy

Columnist Charles Krauthammer argued that Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) will have to walk back his foreign policy, which will undermine his “authenticity” on Monday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel.

“When he [Rand Paul] began his career, I mean, in the Senate and as a national figure, the wind was at his back. There was a sense that the country had gone — was over-intervening. He gave that 13-hour speech on the floor of the Senate against, essentially, a drone attack on an American citizen who was an Al Qaeda — important Al Qaeda operative in Yemen. And now today, he wouldn’t be giving that 13-hour speech opposing drone strikes on Al Qaeda operatives in Yemen. The situation has changed. The fruits of Obama’s isolationism are now being shown and experienced, the beheading of Americans, the collapse of Yemen, giving away everything on the deal with Iran. The country is seeing that that kind of retreat yields really terrible results. And I think the problem that Rand Paul has is that — his association with this non-interventionism is now a problem and he has to [walk] back which, again, undermines his other strength which is his authenticity” Krauthammer stated.
