Earnest: Russia Is More ‘Concerning’ Since 2012, But JCS Nominee Just Giving ‘His Own View’

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said that while Russia’s actions have become “somewhat more concerning” since 2012, Joint Chiefs Chairman nominee Gen. Joseph Dunford was giving “his own view” when he called Russia “the greatest threat to our national security” during Saturday’s White House Press Briefing.

Earnest, in response to a question about Dunford’s comments, said Russia’s actions have become “somewhat more concerning” since 2012, and assessments of this nature are “dynamic.”

He added that Dunford, “has his own view, but I think he would the first to admit that that’s — reflects his own view, and not — and doesn’t necessarily reflect the view of — or the consensus analysis of the president’s national security team.”
