On MSNBC on Thursday, actress and supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) bid for the Democratic presidential nomination Susan Sarandon explained why she hasn’t given up on the possibility of Sanders winning the party’s nomination despite having to overcome some difficult math.
According to Sarandon, there is a possible indictment looming for Sanders’ opponent, party front-runner Hillary Clinton, which makes Sanders being the nominee not an impossibility.
Partial transcript as follows:
JANSING: He won’t have the delegates. The numbers are really against him.
SARANDON: Well, except if you talk about super delegates and some of them have already changed their votes.
JANSING: He would need to flip more than 300, about 300 super delegates. It would be beyond unprecedented.
SARANDON: Well, it would be unprecedented, especially since so many of them are lobbyists for exactly the things he’s against. But nobody is even talking about this indictment. What happens to that? Besides the trust issue of catching her in so many lies.
JANSING: Well, there has been no indictment.
SARANDON: No, but there’s going to be. I mean it’s inevitable.
JANSING: We don’t know that.
SARANDON: Well, we don’t know that these people, that [Sanders] is not going to get the numbers either.
She went on to add that it would be difficult for to support Clinton if she defeats Sanders for the nomination.
