‘Hamilton’ Actor: Pence Statement Was a ‘Message of Love and Unity’

Monday on “CBS This Morning,” “Hamilton” actor Brandon Victor Dixon, who delivered a message to Vice President-elect Mike Pence after a performance over the weekend, said there is no reason to apologize to Pence because they were only attempting to “stand up and spread a message of love and of unity.”

Dixon said, “The producers, the creators and the cast all — we recognize that “Hamilton” is an inherently American story told by the definition of American community. We are men and women of different colors and orientations. And the resident nature of the world throughout the global community demands that we make statements when there are important issues, I think, facing us as a community. So we wanted to stand up and spread a message of love and of unity considering all of the emotion out pour since the election.”
