WaPo’s Capehart Claims He Didn’t Even Know the Phrase ‘Antifa’ Until Charlottesville Protests

In response to President Donald Trump denouncing Antifa, Washington Post columnist Jonathan Capehart claimed Saturday on MSNBC’s “AM Joy” that he had never even heard of the violent left-wing group, adding that they are “not the issue.”

“[Y]ou can bring up Antifa all you want, I didn’t even know the phrase until Charlottesville happened,” Capehart told host Joy Reid. “Antifa is not the issue. It’s white supremacists, it’s neo-Nazis, it’s racists and bigots who believe that because President Trump is now president of the United States and ran the most openly racist, bigoted, xenophobic, misogynistic campaign for president, that there’s no need to wear hoods anymore.”
