Tuesday on CNN, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said that Democrats hope to get funding for clean water and expanded broadband in the next coronavirus stimulus bill.
Host Anderson Cooper said, “When you and I, I think, last spoke, which I think it was a week or maybe two weeks ago, time is kind of running together, the focus seems to be more, there were a lot of talk about this, focusing on infrastructure. That’s clearly not what you see this next package being.”
Pelosi said, “Yes. And thank you for mentioning that because we do believe there is some infrastructure needs whether we are talking about clean water, whether we are talking about community health centers, whether we are talking about transportation to take our essential worker to work, whether we are talking about broadband so that we can have children learning from home and telemedicine, telebusiness —so many —I said telehealth, telemedicine — so many aspects of life or even just people communicating with each other as they are sheltered at home.”
She continued, “That seems to — we need a longer the path to that — even though it isn’t immediately related to Coronavirus that’s not off the table. But what is on the table is more funding for the immediate needs that people have.”
