Alec Baldwin to Produce Doc on 'Hero' Barney Frank

Alec Baldwin is back in the news despite his vow earlier this year to retreat from public life.

The combustible actor is executive producing a new documentary on veteran liberal politician Barney Frank, the first openly gay member of Congress.

Titled Compared to What: The Improbable Journey of Barney Frank, the documentary chronicles the impact Frank’s sexual preference had on his political career. The film will make its debut next month at the Tribeca Film Festival. Baldwin will team with Frank for a Q&A at the movie’s April 27 premiere.

Barney Frank is a personal hero of mine,” he said in a statement. “His legacy in Congress–and his historic importance as the first openly gay and married Congressman–important for our country.

Given both Baldwin and Frank’s participation in the film, it’s clear this Improbable Journey will take a very kind look at the politician’s past.
