Legendary NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon was gearing up for the Daytona 500 on Sunday when an unexpected guest, fan Vince Vaughn, stopped by to offer him a pre-race pep-talk.

Vaughn, who was present Sunday, serving as the grand marshal for the competition, stumbled upon “number 24” in this lighthearted bit, and offered a little friendly advice.

Gordon, staring at the event’s big prize, seemed rather entranced and nervous about the race, when Vaughn cut in to offer a hand.

“You’re here for your movie right? Unfinished Business?” Gordon interrupted.

“This isn’t about my unfinished business,” the actor stateed. “I think we both know this is about your unfinished business.”

He continued: “The great ones, they always have moments like this. I’m sure Petty, the king, had moments like this… Lets be honest, he had ice water in his veins, probably not him.”

Okay, so Gordon, who is in his last season of the sport, was just there to place a phone call, but the thought still counts.

Although Jeff Gordon may not have had ice water running through his veins, as a three-time Daytona 500 winner (1997, 1999, 2005) he certainly has quite a résumé to hang his hat on.

Since the start of his career in 1994, the racer has engineered 92 victories, 320 top-five finishes, and 454 top-10 finishes.

Although the motivational talk with Vaughn may not have helped the overall outcome of Sunday’s race, as Gordon finished 33rd after a wreck, the two seemed to be enjoying one of the last big moments of a legendary career.
