Gavin MacIntosh, co-star of the ABC Family drama The Fosters, criticized the video-sharing site YouTube over the weekend for adding an age restriction warning regarding a scene that shows he and another teen boy sharing a same-sex kiss.

On March 2, The Fosters made television history for broadcasting the youngest-ever dramatized gay kiss, as characters Jude and Connor, both 13, locked lips. A video of the clip was uploaded to YouTube by a third party, but with an age restriction, which requested users to verify their age in order to view.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, MacIntosh, 15, took issue with the security measure, and accused YouTube of discrimination and homophobia, via a series of Twitter posts that have since been deleted.

“WHAT?! YouTube blocking #jonnor scene w/ age restrictions? 100% discrimination & homophobia! SO innocent compared to what’s on YouTube!” he reportedly tweeted.

Per THR, MacIntosh also accused YouTube of supporting hate groups for what he said was “blocking” access to the video for those who are underage.

The Fosters first debuted in 2013 and is set in a mixed family environment, where a diverse group of children, both biological and adopted, share a home run by an interracial lesbian couple, according to the show’s IMDB page.

YouTube has now removed the age restriction on the video, and a spokesperson for the site told THR: “When it’s brought to our attention that a video or channel was age-gated incorrectly, we act quickly to fix it.”
