Four years after her passing, fans of late R&B singer Whitney Houston will get a chance to see her perform again live via hologram in 2016.
Entertainment Weekly reports Whitney’s aunt, Pat Houston, who is also the president of her estate, has given Hologram USA her blessing to develop the hologram. The hologram project will perform her hits, and promises to be to be “interactive, incorporating audiences and special guests.”
Pat said through a statement,”It’s a great opportunity for her fans to see a reinvention of one the most celebrated female artists in history and to continue a legacy of performances that will not be forgotten in years to come. I look forward to the partnership.”
Holograms of both Michael Jackson and rapper Tupac Shakur have caused controversy in recent years. Still, Hologram USA CEO Alki David, spoke of his excitement.
“I was heartbroken when Whitney passed away in 2012.The opportunity to help share her spectacular gifts with the world again is exactly what I hoped for when I built the hologram business,” David told EW.
He added: “We’ve got technology that’s causing a seismic shift in the entertainment industry, and a wonderful partnership with Pat Houston and the estate. I’m confident we’ll create the ultimate celebration of Whitney’s amazing artistry.”
Following a long and public battle with drug addiction, Whitney Houston died suddenly on Feb. 11, 2012, after being found in her bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel. Her daughter, 22 year-old Bobbi Kristina Brown, was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her Georgia home in January of this year. She died in July, after spending six months in a medically induced coma.
