“Hi, I’m Katy Perry. Let’s take a journey and see how man-made climate change is hurting children around the world.”

Pop superstar Katy Perry posed as a weatherwoman to deliver a sobering weather forecast on global climate conditions in a new video for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

“Today, we’re seeing more extreme weather everywhere, and as a California Girl, I’m not the only one experiencing drought,” the singer says.

Over the Pacific, in the Philippines, we’ve seen more devastating tropical cyclone patterns emerging, while further west in Bangladesh, millions of children and families have lost their homes to flooding. Because it’s always children who are first to suffer from its impact.

Over in East Africa, climate change is helping spread mosquitoes and malaria, which already kills 800 children every day. And the forecast is: conditions will worsen. So please join me in supporting UNICEF to change the forecast for children. Fight unfair.

The video, released Sunday in conjunction with the Cop21 climate change conference in Paris, is part of UNICEF’s #FightUnfair climate change initiative. Perry was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2013.

“The worst part about this is that some of the youngest and most vulnerable citizens of our world are bearing the most unfair burden of climate change. Let’s encourage our world leaders to take this issue seriously,” Perry said in a statement accompanying the video. “Together we can help change the forecast for millions of children.”

Perry has had a busy year. In addition to her work with UNICEF, the “Teenage Dream” singer was named the highest-paid woman in the music industry with earnings of $135 million, mostly from her wildly successful Prismatic World Tour.

The singer has also been stumping for Democrat presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton. In October, Perry headlined a rally for Clinton in Des Moines ahead of the Democrats’ Jefferson-Jackson Dinner. The singer has previously offered to write a theme song for Clinton’s campaign.
