A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI Thursday night after stealing a nine-passenger electric golf cart from the Rose Bowl and taking the vehicle onto the 210 freeway in Pasadena.

The man was initially attempting to use the cart to find his car in the parking lot, reports the Los Angeles Times.

“He took the cart and was trying to get to his car on the other side of Pasadena,” Sgt. Mike Munoz told the Times. “It’s definitely chalked up as one of the new experiences for a lot of people here.”

Officer Tony Polizzi told the paper that authorities first received a call at around 10:10 pm Thursday night, informing them that a man was driving a golf cart in the Number 3 and 4 lanes of the eastbound 210 freeway near Lake Avenue. Police forced the cart off the freeway at Hill Avenue, less than a mile from where it was originally spotted.

The suspect, described as being in his early 20’s, was arrested on suspicion of DUI. The cart was impounded by authorities until Rose Bowl officials could retrieve it.

Oregon defeated Florida State University 59-20 in Thursday’s game.
