A man accused of rape in Marin County, California, who chose to represent himself in the case, said he is innocent because he’s “a good-looking guy” and the alleged victim is “300 pounds.”

If convicted, Izell Lewis, 26, of San Rafael, faces up to eight years of prison time, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. He reportedly faces this time for the alleged rape charge and additional time for misdemeanor charges from when he allegedly exposed himself to an Uber driver in San Rafael last month and masturbated in front of her.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the alleged Uber incident occurred while Lewis was free on $10,000 bail last month.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, Lewis said he was babysitting elsewhere the day he was accused of exposing himself to the Uber driver and that he does not have the ridesharing app on his phone.

“This is a terrible idea,” Judge Andrew Sweet, said about Lewis’s decision to represent himself in court, according to the Marin Independent Journal.

Lewis reportedly pleaded not guilty to charges of forcible rape and rape by a foreign object.

The alleged rape reportedly took place at the Corte Madera Town Center, where Lewis worked as a part-time boxing instructor at Bay Club Marin. According to the Marin Independent Journal, the woman who accused Lewis of rape was an acquaintance who also worked at the mall.

Lewis is set to return to court for further proceedings next week where his fate will be determined. His bail has reportedly been set at $150,000.

In 2016, Jason Meeks, a felon who was arrested and convicted on weapons charges and who served a prison sentence, got a big break as a model after he left jail. His handsome mugshot went viral after women and men alike began fawning over him on social media and landed him in the care of talent agent.

He is now making a lot of money and living in a mansion with his family.
