Ecuador: How To Boil A Frog To Socialism

In Ecuador the elected president Correa is creating a socialistic economy. He is following the plan outlined by the “Foro Sao Paulo.”

Don’t worry….socialism is on the way

Avoid violent revolution whenever possible. It is like boiling a frog. Put the frog in cold water and slowly heat the water so the frog is dead before it realizes the water is boiling.

President Correa a few weeks ago had the people vote on severalchanges in the Constitution which among other issues gives more power to the President to regulate banks and appoint Judges. He is following the Economic Path which has destroyed the Cuban and Venezuelan economies. He has alienated the international lending institutions and many private international banks.

On July 20th Correa won a lawsuit against the newspaper “El Universo” directors Carlos Perez, Nicolas Perez, Cesar Perez, and the Opinion editor Emilio Palacios in which they must pay $30 million to Correa and the newspaper pay $10 million to Correa and they must serve 3 years in prison. The lawsuit issue was Correa was libeled by an Opinion article in which Correa was repeatedly called “El Dictador.”

Destruction of Freedom of Press is a key step in destroying a democracy.

Ecuador is not Cuba. Today Ecuador is well on the path to socialism. Hopefully, Ecuadorians can learn from the destructive Castro socialism forced on Cuba.

There is a great ideological battle in Ecuador today. Will democracy or socialism control the future of Ecuador? Ecuadorians have great character and many Ecuadorians understand the issues in conflict. As distant spectators less us hope Correa will not destroy the economy, freedoms, and democracy.
