Ann Romney: Mitt's VP Could Be Female

In an interview with CBS News, Mitt Romney’s wife Ann said that the campaign had been looking at the possibility of picking a woman as Romney’s running mate. “We’ve been looking at that,” Ann said. “I’d love that option as well. So, you know, there’s a lot of people that Mitt is considering right now.” She said that she wanted Mitt to choose someone who had the “same personality type that will enjoy spending time with him, and also competent, capable and willing to serve this country.”

Ann’s comments came the day after Romney hung out with Sen. Kelly Ayotte in New Hampshire. Other prospective women on the list would have to include Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Gov. Susana Martinez (R-NM), Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC), and even former Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK).

There is little doubt that the Romney campaign wants to reach out to women; Ann is far more popular with women than Mitt. He could certainly do worse than to choose any of the women on the short list above.
