Parks Service Director: WH Knew of Plans to Close War Memorials

On Wednesday, National Parks Service Director Jonathan Jarvis told a House committee that he had informed the White House of his plans to close war memorials during the government shutdown. Rep. John Mica (R-FL) asked Jarvis, “You said you take full responsibility for that action. Is that correct?” Jarvis answered in the affirmative. But he also said, “Several times on the phone with the White House, I presented with the Secretary my decision but it was never the reverse.”
