Chicago: Pregnant Teen Killed During Christmas Day Robbery that SHE Planned

On the day after Christmas, the Chicagoland area was shocked when news broke that a pregnant teen girl was shot in the back of the head and killed on Christmas Day. It was initially reported that the pretty teen was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and may have been the victim of a robbery. But as police investigated further, the tale turned darker.

A day after Christmas, Chicagoans learned of the death of 17-year-old Eva Casara, a 26-weeks pregnant teen from south suburban Dolton, Illinois. The media quickly filled with images of her crying family members and a mother pleading for police to find out how her young daughter died.

Fortunately, after her death, Casara’s baby was born alive and was doing well in a south suburban hospital. But as the story broke, some thought Casara was herself a victim of a robbery. The girl was “just in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong company,” or so thought Dolton Police Chief John Franklin in one early report.

It was even noted that Casara’s purse, cell phone, and money were missing, lending more credence to her having been the victim of a Christmas Day robbery.

In the end police discovered that Eva wasn’t just accidentally swept up in a crime. In fact, she was a participant in the robbery and helped plan the whole thing.

Dolton police ultimately discovered that Eva had helped plan the robbery of a local drug dealer and was shot by one of her own confederates when the robbery began to go wrong.

Investigators revealed that four residents of Dolton, including Casara, had joined a drug dealer with the intent of robbing him. All were in the intended victim’s car when the drug dealer may have gotten suspicious of the situation and demanded that one of the young men get out of the car.

As the intended victim began to drive off, perpetrator Diante Coakley started shooting at the car. One of his bullets hit Eva Casara in the back of the head as she sat in the back seat.

Now, three young men have been arrested for planning and executing the robbery gone wrong, one of whom was Casara’s boyfriend. Charged are boyfriend Anthony Lee, 16, his brother, Diante Lamont Coakley, 21, and Darius D. Marshall, 19, all from Dolton.
