Chicago: 2 Killed, 8 Wounded in Less Than 10 Hours Saturday

Chicago has had another blood-soaked weekend with shootings and murders occurring across the city. The worst happened Saturday when two were killed and eight wounded in less than 10 hours.

The weekend got to an uncharacteristic start when no shootings were reported on Friday. But by Saturday evening the crime rate came roaring back with a vengeance.

By Saturday afternoon, only one day after hundreds of Chicagoans rallied against Chicago’s endemic violence, two were killed and 8 others wounded in mostly gang related gunfire.

The two dead were Corteze Reed, 23, who was shot in the chest in Chicago’s Uptown and Kenneth Anthony, 31, who was shot in the back. Both were shot in street incidents.

8 others were wounded throughout the day on Saturady.

This toll of violence was followed on Sunday with a 36-year-old man who was stabbed and seriously wounded in an incident in the South Loop. The victim is in critical condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The Memorial Day weekend crime spree was preceded by a deadly Thursday where three were killed and nine wounded in gang related violence.
