Two Killed, Nine Wounded in Chicago Violence

The number of those shot and killed in Chicago over the weekend almost mirrored last weekend’s, with two killed and nine wounded.

Over the weekend of October third, only one fewer person was wounded but the same number was killed.

The first was killed at 1 AM on Saturday morning in the South Side’s Englewood neighborhood.

Genorel Martin, 24, was shot after opening the door to his home on South Throop Street. Martin died on the scene. Police have no one in custody for the shooting.

Not long after Martin was shot, a 21-year-old man was found dead in a car in the Princeton Park neighborhood.

The medical examiner’s office reported that Travis L. Wright of the 9300 block of South Wentworth Avenue had suffered several gunshots to the chest and left arm.

The weekend’s toll brings October to 357 killed with 1,823 wounded.
