When Usher was at the White House last week, he was surprised when the leader of the free world sang him Happy Birthday while his wife First Lady Michelle Obama handed him a cupcake with a candle.
“So this really happened the other night,” the star wrote after posting the video on Facebook. “The President and First Lady sang me Happy Birthday at The White House & I got to perform for them. I couldn’t be more grateful for this moment and all of the birthday wishes from everyone. THANK YOU!!!!!”
Obama has a long relationship with Usher, particularly after the singer joined his 2008 campaign. Usher not only held fundraisers for Obama at his Atlanta home, but even appeared at a political rally for him in South Carolina.
Usher also sang at President Obama’s 2009 and 2013 inaugurations.
According to Obama, a secret video exists of him dancing with Usher during one of their parties together.
