Hispanics are reportedly flocking to concealed carry firearms classes in El Paso in order to be prepared to defend themselves should another August 3-like shooting occur.

The Daily Mail reports that Michael McIntyre, general manager of El Paso’s Gun Central, indicated the store has “seen its sales double in the week following the attack.” Regarding concealed carry, he said he has “Over 50 [signed up] for this Saturday class and approximately the same amount for the Sunday class.”

McIntyre said his normal classroom size is about seven.

35-year-old Guadalupe Segovia attended the class after the shooting, saying her husband had wanted her to get a concealed license for some time.

She said she wants to be able to defend herself, but added, “I’m still going to be scared, even carrying a weapon.”

Segovia is one of many Hispanics who “are taking to firearms classes in order to become certified to carry a concealed gun in public in Texas.” In fact, Reuters reported that “the vast majority of people at the classes were Hispanic.”
