President Donald Trump wants an $850 billion economic package to help combat the economic effects of the coronavirus, according to reports.

The package, according to reports, will ask for dramatic tax cuts and industry rescue funding for companies like the airline industry to pull them through the crisis.

Congress already passed an $8 billion package of funding to help fight the virus, which Trump signed, and the House of Representatives has passed a second package of economic relief that includes funding for food and nutrition, paid sick leave, and free coronavirus testing.

The Republican-led Senate has called for a much bigger economic package as the stock market collapsed by 12.93 percent on Monday. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin has already begun negotiating a much bigger plan with Senate Republicans.

The president is expected to detail his planned economic package in an 11:30 a.m. EST press conference on Tuesday.
