FSU QB Jameis Winston Issued Citation for Walking Off with Crab Legs From Publix

Florida State University quarterback Jameis Winston, who led his team to the national championship in January, received a citation for allegedly stealing crab legs from a Publix in Florida.

“He got an adult civil citation,” a trusted source inside Tallahassee Police told Tomahawk Nation. “If he completes the sanctions it will never show up on his record. They commonly give them to juveniles on first criminal offenses. They are now doing it for minor misdemeanors for adults to lower crime rate.”

Major Michael Wood spoke to the media and confirmed the citation after the Tallahassee police said no one from their department gave the Heisman Trophy winner a citation. Wood said Winston admitted he forgot to pay for the crab legs, priced at $32, and was cooperative with authorities.

“Jameis Winston has not been arrested for any crime. He was issued a civil citation,” Wood said.

Wood added that Winston was very cooperative with authorities.

Winston must complete the pre-diversion program or he will be facing a petty theft charge. He also must complete 20 hours of community service.

This is not the first time Winston has been in trouble. In November 2013, Tallahassee police announced they would continue an investigation into a complaint of sexual battery against him from December 2012. He was not arrested and in December, State Attorney Willie Meggs said Winston would be charged. The victim’s account of the incident along with those interviewed by the police was not consistent. A month before the alleged sexual battery, Winston was questioned “after 13 windows were broken at an apartment complex following a BB gun battle near the team’s stadium.” A cashier at a Burger King reported Winston for stealing soda in a ketchup cup, but he was not questioned because the owner did not want to prosecute.

Social media caught wind of Winston’s citation and, well, Twitter is having fun with it.
