Chaldean Priest Resists Returning to Iraq and ISIS Threats

Though the head of the Chaldean Catholic Church in Iraq, Patriarch Louis Raphael I Sako, claims he reveres Pope Francis as the “Father of all Christians,” he has defied the Pope’s decision to permit Chaldean priests, including one based in San Diego, to stay in the United States rather than obey Sako’s injunction to return to Iraq or face excommunication.

Outrage in Mexico as Priests Become Targets of Organized Crime

The high profile murders appear to have no end in Mexico as the country now rallies around the kidnapping and murder of a Catholic priest in the violent Mexican State of Guerrero; the priest is the third religious man to be murdered in that state this year and just one of many kidnapped priests.
